Abstract:

The research paper deals with the study and analysis of outdoor spaces in university campus through an environmental psychology perspective. The research identifies the nature of this type of outdoor space, by identifying the basic elements affecting the formation of these spaces, which are vertical, horizontal and roof elements. Then the concept of space formation is addressed, through which the physical existence of space that students perceive with their senses is realized. This affects their feelings and directs their behavior in a way that suits students' activities and needs within the space. The research paper examines the interrelationship between the elements of campus external spaces (represented by landscape elements) and the different activities of students. This study aims to explore what are the psychological characteristics affecting the psychological comfort of students and how to achieve them within these spaces. Accordingly, a healthy environment can be created that helps fulfill the needs and requirements of its users (students).
