Abstract:

Two field experiments were conducted, to find out the effect of Mn on yield and chemical composition of faba bean (Vicia faba. L.) var. Giza 2. Foliar application of Mn as MnSO4 or Mn-EDTA signifi¬cantly increased plant height, number of branches/plant, number of seeds/plant, weight of seeds/plant as well as weight of 100-seed. Moreover, the seed yield/fed increased by 23, 23, 18 and 27% in the first season, and 10, 8, 10 and 16% in the second season over the control due to the application of 0.02, O.03, 0.04 and 0.05% MnS04 as foliar spray, respectively, similarly, the addition of 0.02, 0.03, 0.04 and 0.05% Mn-EDTA as foliar spray increased the seeds yield/fed by 6, 23, 25 and 26% arid by 1, 5, 14 and 18% in the first and second seasons, respectively. It is clear that; seed yield was markedly increased when faba bean plants were sprayed with 0.02% MnSO4 or with 0.04% Mn-EDTA in the both seasons. On the contrary, foliar application of tin had no significant effect on protein as well as Mn-content of faba bean seeds.
