Abstract:

Increase motility and viability of in vitro preserved sperms is crucial for the success of assissted fertilization especially in.cases of, semen quality as in varicocele patients. In those patients, sperm viability. and motility" are decreased due to testicular ischemia, impaired venous draiinage and production of toxic metabolites. In this.work, the effect of two drugs with profound anti-ischemic. properties namely adenosine, and RiSZSI bdr. -, tgs_ted,on sperm motility an{ viability o_f varie ocele patients . Tt + ,., . ; . , tested drugs share a common property of increasirrg tissue / adenosing-.Moreover the effect of tested drugs on motility of guinea pig vas deferens and ,ATPase activity of rat testicular homogenates were investigatd. Regarding sperrn motility and viability, R7 5Z3L but not adenosine improved the above mentioned sperm propertfuis .It also decreased ATPase activity of rat testicular homogenates On the otherhand, both drugs potentiated adrenaline induced contraction of vas deferens ofguinea pig. The latter effect was inhibited by 8-SPT a broad spectruum adenosine receptor blocker. This may irnply the presence of smooth muscle stimulatory adenosine receptors of : AZ type in vas deferens of guinea pig. The therapeutic relivance and mechanisms of action of tested drugs in varicocele induced infertility- were explained.
