Abstract:

Abstract Aim of the work: The aim of this work was to study the tuberculosis situation in El-Behira Governorate before and after applying of the DOTS in order to evaluate the National Tuberculosis Control Program in El-Behira Governorate as a representative part of Egypt. Methods: This work was a retrospective descriptive and analysis of tuberculosis situation before and after DOTS, carried out at El-Behira Governorate, Egypt, Chest Hospital and related dispensaries. All available data about registered tuberculosis cases from January 1996 till December 2010 (15 years duration) were collected, including demographic data, diagnosis of disease, sputum smear results, previous treatment history, and treatment outcome.
