Abstract:

Whatever man’s physical abilities, he must have the same amount of luxury in interacting with buildings and spaces and recreational sports. However, some of sportive and entertainment establishments in Egypt is not concerned with their spaces design to absorb people with disabilities needs, which prevents them from participating in sports or entertainment events. The research studies number of general requirements of universal design in recreational and sportive spaces especially swimming pools to match the needs of those with physical differences and the possibility of applying the accessible strategies in existing swimming pools already to absorb different users’ segments. In addition to empirical study on the swimming pools compound in the Olympic Village, Mansoura University, by studying the restrictions of making an accessible design for people with disabilities and all users’ abilities.
