Abstract:

Background: Metabolic-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) is a common liver disorder linked to metabolic dysfunction and poses a growing public health challenge. This study aimed to determine the prevalence and risk factors of MAFLD among employees at Benha University Hospitals, Egypt. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted on 85 adult hospital employees from July 2022 to July 2023. Results: MAFLD was identified in 71.8% of participants. The MAFLD group had significantly higher age (42 ± 9 vs. 37 ± 8 years, P = 0.032), body mass index (BMI) (35.2 ± 5.4 vs. 30.3 ± 6.3 kg/m², P
