Abstract: |
In this paper, a closed-form solution of the performance of a 3-phase voltage-source, six-step Inverter feeding a 3-phase induction motor load is presented. Analytical expressions for the steady-state currents of the system are derived from which the performance of the system can be investigated. Explicit formula for the current ratings of the switching elements, whether thyristors, transistors or diodes, used in the system axe derived. The results obtained from the method presented are compared with those obtained using the harmonic equivalent circuits of the motor and very close agreement is obtained. |
