Abstract:

Hepatocellular Carcinoma(HCC) is currently the sixth most common type of cancer with a high mortality rate and an increasing incidence worldwide. The purpose of the study was to assess lifestyle patterns of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Design: Descriptive research design was utilized to conduct this study. Setting: The study was conducted at Outpatient Clinics in National Liver Institute, Menoufia University. The sample: Systematic random sample was used. It included 242 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Two instruments were used: A structured interview questionnaire was used to assess social characteristics of studied patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, medical history and knowledge about hepatocellular carcinoma. Also lifestyle patterns Likert scale for studied patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Results: Showed that 53.35 of studied patients had poor knowledge about hepatocellular carcinoma, %3.35 had healthy life style patterns score and there was significant relation between effect of hepatocellular carcinoma and studied patients total life style patterns. Conclusion: More than half of studied patients had poor knowledge about hepatocellular carcinoma and many patients had unhealthy lifestyle patterns score. Recommendations: Health education program should be conducted at Outpatient Clinics to improve Knowledge and lifestyle patterns of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma.
