| Abstract | The hyoid bone (lingual bone or tongue-bone) (/ˈhaɪɔɪd/ is a horseshoe-shaped bone situated in the anterior midline of the neck between the chin and the thyroid cartilage. At rest, it lies at the level of the base of the mandible in the front and the third cervical vertebra (C3) behind. bone has a great importance in the body . It also can be of great significance in determining age and sex of living and dead persons. Using 3d CT we can measure certain dimensions and diameters of this bone which shall help us in this process. However , thus bone can't be sufficient alone in this process. |
