Abstract:
Mangrove ecosystems are vital coastal habitats with unique characteristics that present challenges for remote sensing-based vegetation monitoring. This paper explores the adaptation and development of vegetation indices tailored to mangrove environments to improve their accuracy and utility. We address the challenges posed by salinity, waterlogging, species variability, canopy structure, and seasonal variations. Through case studies and methodological approaches, we demonstrate how refined vegetation indices can enhance mangrove ecosystem assessment, aiding conservation and management efforts.
