Abstract:

BACKGROUND: Reproductive health is a crucial part of the general health, not only as a key element of the health during adolescence and adulthood but also through sitting the stage for health beyond the reproductive years for both women and men. PURPOSE: to assess knowledge and attitude of late adolescent girls regarding reproductive health. DESIGN: descriptive study design. The tools of data collection were structured demographic sheet, knowledge questionnaire sheet and modified likert scale. SETTING: the study conducted at Benha University girl’s hostel. SUBJECTS: 302 girls in late adolescent period, from first and second academic year. RESULTS: showed that 51.3% of late adolescent girls who are included in the study had poor knowledge about reproductive health issues and 60.9% of them were negative attitude about it. RECOMMENDEDATIONS: develop reproductive health awareness programs targeted to adolescents, Involve adolescents in the design of reproductive health programs and provide the contacting adolescents with enough knowledge as well as booklets related to adolescents reproductive health aspects.
