Abstract:

Forty six bivalvian species belonging to thirty genera are identified from the Upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian-Santonian) sequence exposed at Gabal El-Minsherah and Gabal El-Hamra, north and west Central Sinai, Egypt. The generic affinity of two species has been transferred: Barbatia aegyptiaca and Pterotrigonia (Scabrotrigonia) limbata. Three Lower Cretaceous species are described from the sequence of the study sections: Idasola nakkadyi, Neithea morrisi, and Venericardia deserti. The paleobiogeography of the fauna has been discussed.
