Abstract:

Many investigators have studied the relation between father absence and several psychic phenomena. In this study, primary concern is with the impact of father loss on sons' gender role acquisition. A group of male schizophrenia with sexual symptoms denoting gender uncertainity was studied in comparison with another group of schizophrenic patients(as a control group). Demographic data as well as the results of Minnesota Multiphasic Inventory(MMPI) and Personal Attributes Questionnaire(PAQ). Were analysed with particular reference to masculinity-femininity paradigm. The main results suggested a defective masculinity development in males who have lost their fathers early in life,
