Abstract:

Research Problem: There are many challenges that face world nowadays such as globalization, human development and social cohesion. These changes should be handled through education as it fosters production powers. So there should be more interest about adult education programs especially computer literacy. There are many studies that recommend the necessity of computer literacy in all the educational stages whether they are formal or informal as it is important in supplying the learners with the required knowledge and skills for dealing with the scientific and technological changes and preparing them for further learning. Adult education includes literacy that focuses only on alphabetical literacy which cares for learning reading, writing and arithmetic. But this concept is changed as literacy includes also learning English as well as computer. As computer illiteracy is an important problem as Illiterates do not study computer during their literacy programs. Adults are grown people that affect the development of any nation so their literacy programs should include computer in order to cope with world trends. So the Authority of Literacy and Adult Education made a project with the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology that used computers in learning adult illiterates reading and writing. But how could they learn through computers without having any idea about using computers. So the research problem is how could adults satisfy their need about computer literacy including identifying it without any fear and increasing their self-confidence when dealing with it? Research Results: The research shows that the mean scores of the post test and the observation card is more than the mean scores of the pre test and observation card. That indicates the improving of the learners’ knowledge and skills of computers after receiving the suggested computer literacy program and . In the computer Anxiety test, the learners show less Anxiety when dealing with computers that is shown in the mea scores of the pre- post Anxiety test. It is shown that males exceeded females in acquiring knowledge and skills of computers and they were less worried than females that is due to males are more engaged with society more than females as most females of the research sample were house wives but male work and deal with computers and technological equipments such as mobile phones and others.
