Abstract:

Abstract— this paper investigates different techniques for improving the capacity of the EHV transmission system. This paper will discuss and demonstrate three techniques taking into account the technical and economic aspects. Thermal uprating by using high temperature-low sag conductors (HTLS) instead of the conventional conductors, uprating voltage level and reactive power compensation by using static Var compensator (SVC) can improve the transferred power through the transmission system.
