Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, the President of Benha University, announced the formation of a committee to prepare a comprehensive study on linking the university's programs and academic specializations with the labor market. This initiative comes in response to the directives of Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Egyptian universities to review the academic programs they offer to align with the requirements of the local, regional, and international labor markets.
The university president indicated that the aim of this study, which will involve all faculties of the university, is to measure the compatibility of academic programs with labor market needs, identify strengths and weaknesses in current programs, and develop a plan to enhance programs that require updating or restructuring.
Prof. El-Gizawy added that based on the results of this study, the university will take a series of actions, including developing programs that need updates to align with future job requirements, suspending or merging programs that do not meet labor market demands, and introducing new programs that are in line with global trends in education and employment. He emphasized Benha University's full commitment to providing high-quality education that ensures its graduates can compete in the local, regional, and international labor markets.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy explained that the committee will be chaired by the university president, with Prof. Gehan Abdel-Hady, the Vice President for postgraduate Studies and Research, serving as the deputy chair. The committee will also include Prof. Taha Ashour, the Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Mohamed Ghanem, the Director of the Quality Assurance and Accreditation Center, Prof. Ayman Samir, the university president's advisor for innovation, Prof. Abdel Fattah Monjed, the Executive Director of the International Relations and Scholarship Office, Prof. Amira Aql, Head of the Economics Department at the Faculty of Commerce, Prof. Sahar Abdel-Rahman, Director of the University Career Development Center, Prof. Mervat Gamal, a professor at the Faculty of Science, and Prof. Ahmed Zakaria, Deputy Director of the Office of Innovation and Technology Transfer and Marketing. The committee is expected to submit a comprehensive report on its findings and recommendations, including an executive plan for developing academic programs for presentation to the university council.
Mr. President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has directed the creation of new interdisciplinary programs and the linking of academic programs and specializations to the labor market, incorporating technology and artificial intelligence into the educational process to provide real job opportunities for graduates, while also focusing on developing the technical and university education system to prepare qualified personnel.
The Supreme Council of Universities held an emergency meeting via video conference, chaired by Prof. Abdel Aziz Qansoua, Minister of Higher Education and Chairman of the Council, to discuss mechanisms for implementing the political leadership's directives related to aligning academic programs with labor market demands. This resulted in the formation of a specialized committee to prepare a comprehensive study on linking university specializations with labor market needs, with each university tasked with forming internal executive committees to prepare reports, recommendations, and proposals to be submitted to the main committee.
