Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, participated in a meeting to discuss the executive steps for establishing the Food University. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and with the participation of a number of leaders from both ministries, universities, and research centers.
El-Gizawy praised the idea of establishing the Food University, which represents an advanced model of specialized universities adopted by the state. It reflects a clear direction towards creating a new generation of universities based on interdisciplinary sciences and linking education with scientific research and practical application, serving the state's priorities in areas such as food security, water resource management, and sustainable development.
It is worth noting that the Food University project is part of the Education Development Fund's vision to develop a modern educational system based on project-based learning, international partnerships, and the employment of modern technologies. This contributes to achieving the goals of Egypt's Vision 2030 and enhances Egypt's position as a regional hub for specialized education and scientific research in the fields of food and sustainable agriculture.
The Food University includes five specialized colleges covering Smart Agriculture, Animal Production, Water Resource Management, Food Process Technology, and Agricultural Mechanization. It also includes a Food Research Center and an Entrepreneurship Incubator, in partnership with Hiroshima University of Japan and in cooperation with Cairo University and Benha University. This ensures the provision of high-quality education that combines academic qualification and practical training.
