Benha University organized a celebration for International Anti-Corruption Day under the title "United Against Corruption." The event was held in cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority in Qalyubia and Qalyubia Governorate. Attendees included Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University; Engineer Ayman Atiya, Governor of Qalyubia; Major General Reda Ismail, Head of the Administrative Control Authority office in Qalyubia; Prof.Dr. Gehan Abdel Hady, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Research; Colonel Mohamed Awad from the Administrative Control Authority office in Qalyubia; along with executive, academic, and administrative leaders of the University.

During his speech, Prof.Dr. Nasser El-Gizawy emphasized that corruption represents one of the most dangerous challenges facing sustainable development and undermines reform and development efforts. He pointed out that combating it strongly is the responsibility of everyone individuals and institutions and that work must be done to entrench a culture of integrity and adherence to the law.
"El-Gizawy" added that Benha University, as a house of knowledge and science, believes that combating corruption starts with instilling noble ethical values in the hearts of its students and preparing them to be future leaders who carry the banner of reform and place the nation's interest above all else.
The University President indicated Benha University's keenness to adopt a set of practical practices that reinforce integrity and transparency values. These include: applying a digital transformation system to most administrative and student services, which reduces human intervention and limits opportunities for corruption or favoritism; launching electronic portals for students that allow them to transparently follow up on their transactions, ensuring justice and equality of opportunity; activating internal review and oversight committees that continuously monitor administrative and financial performance to ensure compliance with laws and regulations; in addition to organizing awareness seminars and workshops for university students, faculty members, and staff, aiming to spread a culture of integrity and enhance awareness of the dangers of corruption and ways to prevent it.
El-Gizawy continued, stating that the university seeks to entrench the principles of good governance through: commitment to accountability standards and rules at all administrative levels; enhancing community participation by opening communication channels with students, parents, and the local community to ensure transparency in decision-making; supporting scientific research initiatives addressing integrity and anti-corruption topics, and encouraging students to submit projects that contribute to building a more just society; and building the capacities of human resources at all university levels faculty, administrators, and students to ensure the preparation of a generation capable of leadership.
During the celebration, the Governor of Qalyubia delivered a speech in which he affirmed that the anti-corruption file in Qalyubia is a comprehensive national project, not merely a monitoring one. He pointed out that it reflects the state's commitment to building a society based on justice, integrity, and transparency. He expressed the governorate's pride in the continuous cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority office in Qalyubia, confirming that the office is an essential partner and one of the most important national arms for protecting public funds. He added that this partnership aims to spread awareness, build capacities, and improve the efficiency of government performance and service automation to ensure providing a service worthy of the citizen and enhancing their trust in state institutions.
The Governor affirmed that the governorate will remain supportive of all governmental and oversight efforts in this vital field. He stressed that work will continue to develop governance mechanisms and establish principles of discipline and responsibility in all executive sectors, clarifying that combating corruption requires the concerted efforts of everyone; leadership, employees, and citizens are essential partners in building a value system that protects the nation and supports the path of sustainable development, reflecting the governorate's endeavor to build a strong and honest administrative apparatus.
Engineer Ayman Atiya also directed a direct message to his sons and daughters among the students, emphasizing the necessity of prioritizing conscience in all matters they undertake and affirming the importance of fearing God in all circumstances, considering this the foundation of integrity and responsibility in building the nation. In a related context, the Governor urged youth to practice their constitutional and national right, directing them on the necessity of actively participating in the upcoming electoral milestone, represented by casting their votes in the run-off round for the House of Representatives elections in Qalyubia Governorate, to ensure choosing those who best represent them under the parliament's dome.
In his speech, Major General Reda Ismail, Head of the Administrative Control Authority office in Qalyubia , stated that International Anti-Corruption Day is observed on the anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the UN Convention against Corruption in 2003. The Convention defines the corrupt practices that should be considered in its chapters, and these acts include (bribery, embezzlement, money laundering, and obstruction of justice). He pointed out that Egypt was among the first countries to join this convention on December 9, 2003, and it was ratified by the Egyptian House of Representatives on February 25, 2005.
The Head of the Administrative Control Authority office in Qalyubia added that the Administrative Control Authority is the official state body of Egypt specialized in preventing and combating corruption according to the UN Convention. The Authority prepared and launched the first national strategy for the Egyptian state to combat and prevent corruption in 2014, under the patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, coinciding with the birth of the New Republic. On this same day in 2023, the Administrative Control Authority issued the third phase of the 2023-2030 national anti-corruption strategy.
Major General Reda Ismail indicated that the Authority operates within a legislative framework consistent with the constitution's articles, the law establishing the Authority, and the substantial amendment issued in 2017, which added many competencies to the Authority to keep pace with the evolution of crime. These include: human trafficking and illegal immigration crimes, foreign currency trafficking crimes, human organ trafficking crimes, cybercrimes, and digital currency crimes. The Administrative Control Authority also developed its working methods according to the directives of the political leadership by maximizing the Authority's role in preventing corruption—highlighting the difference between combating and preventing corruption. He pointed out that the Authority adjusted its organizational structure by creating new devices and units, including: a department to support and encourage investment and investors, a department for leadership nomination, a department for monitoring national projects, and the establishment of the National Anti-Corruption Academy, which serves as the Authority's training arm.
On the other hand, the celebration witnessed documentary presentations about the activities of Benha University and the Administrative Control Authority in combating corruption, as well as a number of artistic performances, in addition to presenting awards for the University's anti-corruption competitions.
